The EX 6.5 is without a doubt, the best value trail bike in Trek's range.
Air-adjustable suspension from Fox and RockShox, Avid hyrdaulic disc brakes, a flawless Shimano drivetrain and a solid Bontrager wheelset - what more could you want in a trailbike?
And with this 2009 model now at over 40% off the RRP, you better get in quick to My Mountain before another mountain biker steals ya deal!
Featuring 5" travel front & rear, as well as the same quality of frame construction that is found on the $6500 Fuel EX 9, you're also getting the same Trek Lifetime Warranty that you get on all Trek frames, which makes this superb value at under $2000.
For 2009, the Trek Fuel EX 6.5 represents the value-bike in Trek's Fuel EX range. This is primarily due to the more expensive Fuel EX bikes having an updated frame, allowing the EX 6.5 to come in at a cheaper price point.
Utilising an Alpha Red Aluminum frame and sealed bearings at each pivot point, the R1 "Trail-Tuned" suspension provides 5" of suspension travel that is designed to be plush on the bumps and stiff under pedalling.
The Fox Float RP2 rear shock allows you to tune the spring weight for a softer or firmer ride, as well as adjust the rebound setting for different conditions. Should you need it, the RP2 also has a lockout lever that turns the shock on or off.
Up front, the RockShox Recon 335 is also air-sprung, which means it is not only lighter, but more tuneable too. Featuring rebound adjustment and a lockout lever, you have a whole lot of tuning potential from both ends of the bike.
The drivetrain is a reliable mix of Shimano Deore XT and Deore, while braking duties are handed to the Avid Juicy 3 hydraulic disc brakes that feature larger 7" rotors for more stopping power. Trek also make sure that you're not going to be out on the trail with a buckled rim by speccing a solid Bontrager Rhinger Wheelset that features a wide rim and stainless steel eyelets for durability.
If you're after a new trailbike but want a great all round package, or you're not sure about the whole 'duallie' thing, come in and test ride one of the Fuel EX 6.5's and we're sure you will be surprised! At the RRP, this bike is a serious piece of kit, but with the sale price at under 2 grand, it is a deal that shouldn't be missed.
